Karon tells us about her role as Branch Manager in Neath for Payton Jewell Caines.
Tell us about your career to date
It was back in 1998 that I first started in estate agency. I worked for a number of local firms before joining Payton Jewell Caines in 2009. I’m now a member of the National Association of Estate Agents and responsible for managing our Neath branch.
What’s the best bit of your job?
Every day is different and I’m always out and about meeting new people. I’m so lucky to have a job that I love so much; helping people to sell their properties and find their dream homes.
What advice can you offer vendors?
Presentation is everything. Don’t overlook the detail and make sure you seek the guidance of an experienced estate agent that is local to you. Putting your property up for sale is the easy bit – it’s the weeks of negotiation and progression that really make the difference to a successful sale. That’s what we do best at Payton Jewell Caines.
Do you deal with first time buyers?
Absolutely. I meet first time buyers every day of the week. I always give the same advice; make sure you have done your homework and have qualified for a mortgage. Only view properties within that price range. Ask for help and never settle for second best. This is a massive decision so let us help you to make sure you get it right!

I know I am biased but in my view, we really are the best agent around. What makes us different is that we care. Do you get time to do anything outside of work?
This sounds sad but my job really does come first. It isn’t work to me. It is a way of life. It’s a case of sleep, eat and repeat! But I am pretty disciplined with my daily work-outs – an hour of exercise in the morning sets me up for a productive day.
