Pupils at Blaenbaglan School are on target to raise £20,000 to buy a new minibus for the school.
Used for curriculum and sporting activities, the current bus is in a bad state of repair and needs to be replaced for the benefit of pupils and the wider community. £7,000.00 has been raised so far from activities that have included discos, raffles, fetes and non-uniforms day. Working with the PTA, the pupils have also been fortunate to secure a donation of £300.00 from Payton Jewell Caines.
Chair of the Blaenbaglan School PTA, Judith Pearce says: “The current mini bus is over ten years old and is in a bad state of repair. We are doing all that we can to raise the £20,000 needed to buy a new mini bus. All help is much appreciated and we are very grateful to Payton Jewell Caines for their support.”
Vicky Williams, Office Manager for Payton Jewell Caines adds: “We are really proud of all that we do to support sporting initiatives and worthwhile causes in our local communities. Our community programme helps to fund local charities, education and sporting initiatives like Blaenbaglan school.”
The Payton Jewell Caines community committee meets on a quarterly basis. Local charities or fundraising initiatives should apply in writing to community@pjchomes.co.uk by 1 June 2015 to be considered for the next round of funding.
