Well done to all involved, you really have made a difference to people battling and affected by cancer.
Bridgend Race For Life 2019
Unfortunately, cancer touches too many of us, too often. Every year, staff members of PJC, get their running shoes on and run the Race for Life, raising lots of money for Cancer Research UK.
However, this year has made us all think quite differently at PJC. We have a very special colleague who is currently battling breast cancer, and we also have a close friend who at just 33 years of age with a young family is facing the same fight.
We really don’t know what’s around the corner and our lives can be changed so quickly. It’s events like this that bring the community together and show support for loved ones who have been affected by cancer. The 5k race is famous for bringing people together, to raise money and to beat cancer.
Rhiannon Reed from our Bridgend branch was a team member in #teamleababes. They raised an astonishing £4425! That’s nearly a quarter of the total raised. A huge well done to you all, you should be very proud of yourselves.
Nicola Roberts from our Pencoed branch, pictured with her fiancé Gareth David , crossed the line for a third year running. Well done Nicola – a huge achievement.
The turnout from the Bridgend community was incredible, there were hundreds in attendance supporting CRUK including our previous First Minister, Carwyn Jones.
The Bridgend Race For Life route is set in Newbridge Fields and the route follows Ogmore river. Luckily, the weather held off staying dry until the last runners had finished.
Emotions run high when runners crossed the finishing line. Huge applauses and a great sense of achievement knowing that together, we can all make a difference by raising money for Cancer
research.
