Tell us about life at Payton Jewell Caines
It was 2006 when I first joined Payton Jewell Caines. I’ve spent the last 12 years helping our clients to buy and sell houses. From accompanying viewings to negotiating the details of a sale, I’ve worked on pretty much every aspect of the sales process.
Is there a typical day?
No two days are ever the same in this job. That’s why I love it so much. I spend a lot of my time valuing properties here in Pencoed, advising our clients on the sales process and carrying out viewings. However, the majority of time is spent on progressing sales by working with the other agents and solicitors involved in a chain. Our buyers and vendors often don’t realise the work that is required to get a sale from the point of offer to completion. It can be hard work and stressful. It’s definitely when we earn our money!
What’s the best bit of the job?
I meet so many different people. I love helping our clients at a really important time in their life. Selling or buying a house is a major life event. I never lose sight of how stressful the process can be and enjoy guiding our clients through to completion.
What advice can you offer someone looking to sell?
Be patient and take advice from the experts! The process can get pretty stressful so make sure you’ve got the right advisors on board. A local solicitor is particularly important.
And finally, what makes Pencoed so popular?
There are so many reasons why Pencoed is such a great place to live. The community spirit and the easy access to the M4 and the main railway line make it a popular choice for commuters. There are also some really good schools and plenty of amenities on the doorstep with the coast, McArthur Glen and Bridgend all within a ten minute drive. It’s a great choice for the young and old alike!
