Landlords targeted with fixed penalty notices and prosecution

185 fixed penalty notices have been issued to landlords and the number is rising as Rent Smart Wales crack down on unlicensed landlords. 

Over 177,000 properties, 87,000 landlords and some 2,916 agents are now licensed with Rent Smart Wales but some continue to operate illegally. 

However, although the majority of landlords and agents in Wales are now fully compliant with legislation, the scheme says some continue to operate illegally.

Fixed penalty notices of up to £250 are being issued and prosecutions taken forward with 185 fixed penalty notices and taken 15 prosecutions for offences to date.
