Meet Michelle – PJC Homes

Meet Michelle

What did you do before pursuing your career with PJC?

Prior to joining PJC I had a varied career across multiple sectors. From the motor industry, to a well-known superstore, to a digital company, to debt recovery and even a short role in HR and whereas each of these may seem completely different, they all had a common theme… customer service.

I have learnt that I love working with people and helping them receive the best customer experience.

Have you settled into the office ok?

As a naturally chatty and bubbly person, I love meeting new people. I had heard a lot about the Port Talbot office and even had visited a few times before my official start date. I knew right away that I would connect with this team and that I would be able to build my future career in this office with these people. It turns out my initial thoughts were right, I love my job and have built solid relationships with my new colleagues. This has meant settling into the office has been easy.

What do you love most about what you do?

This job is perfect for me. I love meeting new people and have a natural desire to help them. In this role, I get to do both.

I meet new people every day and I help them find the house of their dreams. I also get to tap into my creative vision and help them see what is possible in their new home. I’m renovating my own home and I’ve managed to pick up lots of great new ideas.

Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you.

I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon in less than 2.5 hours without stopping with no training.

We hear Rugby is a strong family passion… have you ever played?

Rugby is a huge part of my life, my daughter, nephew and cousin have all played for Wales professionally. I am so proud of them all. I even had the privilege of travelling to New Zealand recently to watch my daughter play in the World Cup. As for me… Well… I like to think I can play…. Maybe with the kids, in the park, with no tackling and no running!

What’s the highlight of your career with PJC or favourite moment?

Lots of highlights… Professionally – Selling a house to someone who had almost given up looking because they couldn’t find what they wanted. Building relationships with Investors who now trust me to show them around. The bloopers – getting to a house and locking myself and client in the garden so I’ve had to scale the fence. Getting to a house with no key so a colleague has had to come and bail me out.

Do you have any pets?

I don’t have any pets personally but I do support my daughter with the care of her dog – Willow. We have a love/hate relationship… at 10pm she is great company and gives the best cuddles however, every morning at 5am.. let’s say I’m not so keen on cuddles then!

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work I have a busy social life. I have 2 sisters and a huge circle of friends. I also have a great relationship with my Mum often out for coffee or having a little rum and coke with one of them!

What is the best thing about working in the Port Talbot branch?

Port Talbot has always had a special place in my heart as it’s somewhere I used to go with my Nana Soc when she was alive. I never considered that I would end up working in Port Talbot but it turns out it’s the best decision I made.
